INFLUENCES & ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
My work & knowledge base is heavily informed & influenced by the abolitionist - humanist - equity & trauma-informed work / teachings / mentorship / friendship / accountability of countless leaders in the field, Black women especially.
The benefit of brain science now available regarding trauma cannot be overstated. For centuries Survivors have been reporting what science is just now catching up to & validating.
Trauma-informed therapists, practitioners & advocates are invaluable resources to the growth & healing that comes from being believed and supported.
And an acknowledgement to those who are willing to do this work, which means facing shadowy corners of your minds, bodies & past, withstanding discomfort, challenging established systems, receiving criticism & correction from those who have been harmed, listening without defensiveness, managing triggers, and finding ways to love yourself through your own pain.
